qoolloop are an ambient-minimalist jazz ensemble based in Vancouver, BC. Born from the
creative synergy of alumni at the music program of Vancouver Community College, the band
plays continuous, non-stop sets where songs melt into one another without a pause.
Blurring the boundaries between composition and liquid improvisation, qoolloop builds a lush,
cinematic world powered by heavy spatial reverb, tape delay, phasing and loops. At their show,
expect an uninterrupted, transcendent journey blending cinematic noir, modal jazz, ambient
drone, and psychedelic groove, traversing iconic works by such artists as Antonio Carlos Jobim,
Matthew Halsall, John Cage, Miles Davis, Richard Strauss, Angelo Badalamenti and Kool Kamp; the
Gang.
This is a public show and everyone is welcome to attend. Admission is by donation. Your support helps local artists continue creating and sharing their work with the community.
