Jeanne Rudd

Jeanne Rudd is a Vancouver jazz vocalist known for her expressive phrasing, soulful improvisation, and deep connection to the jazz tradition. The daughter of Canadian jazz bassist Bob Rudd, Jeanne grew up immersed in the sound and spirit of Montreal jazz, an influence that continues to shape her musical voice today. Jazz isn’t just something Jeanne Rudd does — it’s in her blood.

Since stepping onto the Vancouver jazz scene in 2018, Jeanne has earned recognition for her warmth, spontaneity, and distinctive interpretations of jazz standards. Her performances blend swing, storytelling, and fearless improvisation, creating a sound that feels both rooted in tradition and unmistakably her own. Alongside her interpretations of a classic repertoire, she also performs original compositions that reflect her evolving artistry.

In 2023, Jeanne was awarded Most Inspiring Jazz Vocalist with adjudicator Steve Maddock praising her playful phrasing, conversational delivery, and inventive scat improvisation. She has since become a familiar presence on the local jazz scene, appearing at venues and events including Brentwood’s Jazz Evensong, MLK Day celebrations, benefit concerts, and Black History Month performances that honor the legacy of jazz.

Whether performing with a small combo or a larger ensemble, Jeanne brings authenticity, musical curiosity, and a genuine love of jazz to every stage. With a growing reputation in Vancouver and a debut CD on the horizon, she is an artist whose performances invite listeners into a world of swing, soul, and joy in every note!
